                          Peace sign history

50 years had passed. Another 100 will pass and there is always going to be someone who is wondering what is that mark standing for. It started life as the emblem of the British anti-nuclear movement but it has become an international sign for peace, and arguably the most widely used protest symbol in the world. It has also been adapted, attacked and commercialised. Many people have speculated on just what the symbol represents. So read …

Originally, the peace symbol was adopted by the British nuclear disarmament movement for the badge of the campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
It was designed by Gerald Holtom—a member of the British nuclear disarmament movement.
So, instead, Gerald Holtom decided to incorporate the semaphore letters ‘N’ and ‘D’, which stood for Nuclear Disarmament.
The semaphore ‘N’ is made when a man stands with two flags and holds them away from his body and down at his side to an upside down ‘V’ shape.
The semaphore ‘D’ is made when a man stands with two flags, one pointed straight up and one pointed straight down.

And then in World War 2, the peace sign was used for Hitler’s troops who died at battle. This peace symbol was found upon each and every one of their graves, which was then called ‘The Dead Man’s Rune’.
Since the war, the peace sign was very seldom seen again. When it was seen, it was seen on graves or small flags, but it wasn’t as popular as it was before and during the war. In the USA in the 1960s, however, the hippies revived it in the anti-war movement. It was imported into the United States by Philip Altbach. So it became a national sign of Hippies, wich became the official sign of peace! They wore the peace symbol with pride, and made a big statement. And now, years later, we still know what this symbol means.

                                         John Lennon

John Lennon born in 9 October 1940 and die in 8 December 1980) was an English musician, singer and songwriter, who create  the historical band the Beatles. Together with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. He is my favorite singer. I can’t live without his great songs.
I will love you Lennon forever…

The best quotes of John Lennon
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
………………………………………………………………………………………
I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?
………………………………………………………………………………………
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.
………………………………………………………………………………………
You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. You are what you are!
………………………………………………………………………………………
We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first, rock 'n' roll or Christianity.
………………………………………………………………………………………
You either get tired fighting for peace, or you die.
………………………………………………………………………………………
If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that's a problem. Peace and love will be forever.”
………………………………………………………………………………………
I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.”
………………………………………………………………………………
War is over ... If you want it.”
………………………………………………………………………………
I'm not afraid of death because I don't believe in it.
It's just getting out of one car, and into another”
…………………………………………………………………………………
I will go to school for peace, or I will not go to school for peace.
…………………………………………………………………………………
The more real you get the more unreal the world gets.

                    Imagine                                  J. Lennon

                                 • Imagine there's no Heaven
         It's easy if you try
         No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

                                               Ying - Yang

The meaning of Ying-Yang
This Simbol(Ying-Yang) represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "ying" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other. While "ying" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The shape of the ying and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, ying to yang and yang to ying, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.

Ying-Yang is a sign of hippies too. You can often see this sign on hippies.

Mary King's Close, Edinburgh, Scotland
Hidden below Edinburgh's medieval Old Town is a series of subterranean streets with an unsavory past.
Mary King's Close is where plague victims were quarantined and left to die in the 17th century, and paranormal activity abounds down there.
You might, for instance, feel some gentle tugging at your hands and legs by an unseen force. The cause is believed to be the ghost of Annie, a young girl abandoned by her parents in 1645.
More than a hundred years later, in classic horror-tale fashion, a grand new building was constructed over Mary King's Close, leaving the streets, including the plague ghosts, intact underground.
